Clearing the Internet Browser Cache

Clearing the cache on your internet browser can be of benefit in some cases. One of the most common reasons is if you have made changes to a website and are not able to view those changes. A browser can cache old information keeping you from being able to see the updated/new information. Below are some instructions on how to clear the cache and cookies for commonly used browsers. ***PLEASE NOTE*** AOL users have to contact AOL to clear the cache and cookies on AOL's branded browser.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

  • Open IE
  • Go to the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen
  • Go to "Internet Options"
  • In the section "Temporary Internet Files" click on "Delete Files"
  • Click on "OK"
  • Close the browser

When opening a new browser, type in the address you were trying to get to or site you want to see the new changes to and you should be able to see them.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0

  • Open IE
  • Go to the "Tools" menu in the upper right corner of the browser
  • Go to "Browsing History" and click on "Delete"
  • In the list provided, you'll want to delete "Temporary Internet Files" and "History."
  • Click on "OK"
  • Close the browser and open a new one

Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and 2.0

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on "Tools" at the top of the screen
  • Go to "Clear Private Data"
  • Put a check mark in the boxes of information you wish to clear (History, Cache)
  • Click on "OK"
  • Close the browser and open a new one
